Vascular lesions, commonly referred to as spider veins, are small dilated blood vessels that appear right underneath the skin’s surface. Spider veins are most common among children and woman but can be experienced by anyone. Spider veins are a result of many factors including aging, genetics, hormones, and activity level. Like pigmented lesions, spider veins are not harmful but are considered an unwanted cosmetic blemish. Spider veins often appear on the nose, cheeks, ears, legs, and ankles.
Vascular lesion removal is a noninvasive medical procedure that uses light energy to remove unwanted veins. During treatment, our Duality laser will emit light energy onto the vein, causing it to collapse and safely coagulate it without damaging the surrounding skin. Over time, the vessel will fade and disappear. Laser treatment works best on small to mid-sized veins. Patients with large veins should consult with a physician before receiving treatment.
